COLUMBIA CITY, IN (WANE/CNN) - A new war memorial in Indiana is getting attention for a spelling error.
The bench was supposed to read "war on terrorism," but an extra "i" was accidentally engraved in to make it say "terriorism."
The mistake has been covered with tape.
Ty Murphy, coordinator of the Vietnam War monument said people are focusing on the wrong thing. He said what is most important is that monument pays homage to service men and women.
The company that made the bench will either repair or replace it.
The bench is located in a park with memorials to other conflicts. It is scheduled to be officially dedicated on Veterans Day.
