(CNN) - SpaceX successfully sent a communications satellite soaring toward orbit on Wednesday evening. The commercial space company, headed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, initially planned to do the launch on Sunday.
But it pushed it to Monday, when it was scrubbed for a second time. Wednesday's launch marks SpaceX launch number 10 so far in 2017, and its third launch in just 12 days.
That's a big increase over last year, when it launched eight rockets in all of 2016. The satellite will eventually orbit 22,300 miles above Earth, Space.com said.
