(CNN) - The little dog whose toothy grin made him a viral sensation has found a home. Cheech, a recent resident of the City of Waller Animal Shelter and Rescue, got scores of “likes” when the shelter put two photos of him on its Facebook page.
The post was shared thousands of times. The shelter said the post was what helped Cheech land a new home, which he will share with a fellow canine pal.
Rescue shelters nationwide take in about 6.5 million animals each year. The ASPCA estimates that only about 3 million are adopted annually.
Not all shelter animals can be as charming as Cheech, but they still need good homes.
