Slain officer's son gets police escort to school

SULLIVAN, IN (CNN) – On Monday, a slain officer's son got a big show of support on his first day back to school since he lost his dad.

Seventy Terre Haute Police officers and Vigo County Sheriff's Deputies waited for five-year-old Dakota Pitts when he arrived at school

He wore his father's badge and was presented a SWAT shirt.

Officer Rob Pitts was killed last week in a shootout during a three-hour standoff.

He was 45-years-old.
