DUNSTABLE, MA (WCVB/CNN) - A skydiver ended up spending a little extra time off the ground - four hours extra.
The police and fire departments were called to a tree where Aatif Rathad was stuck Sunday evening.
"I was flying a wingsuit, a giant squirrel suit, and I couldn't reach my pull handle to deploy my main parachute. So after three tries, I still had enough altitude. I decided to go into my emergency procedures. I cut my main parachute and pulled my reserve," Rathod said.
He was relieved to make it down without getting seriously hurt.
"I don't understand how this happened but I landed perfectly in a tree sitting on a branch, so as luck had it, I was OK," he said.
Rathad wasn't hurt and turned down an offer to go to the hospital.
He also says this incident shouldn't prevent others from skydiving, something he called a "very safe sport."
