HEMPSTEAD, NY (NEWS 12 LONG ISLAND/CNN) - One Long Island restaurant just didn't have the heart to cook a lobster born in the 19th century.
The team at Peter's Clam Bar decided to return Louie the lobster back to his ocean home.
The town supervisor also got in on the act. He issued a declaration that officially set Louie free.
The 22 pound lobster is 132 years old.
That means the centenarian crustacean was born before the Wright brothers flew for the first time and survived two World Wars.
June is national lobster month and Louie is the luckiest lobster of them all.
