MCALLEN, TX (KGBT/CNN) - Federal investigators say Jorge Ignacio Cavazo, a Spanish teacher at Lincoln Middle School, was involved in cocaine smuggling.
In November 2017, an informant told Homeland Security investigation special agents that a black vehicle was used to smuggle drugs.
After the car entered the country, the drugs and the vehicle had to be handed over to a man who would later be identified as Jorge Ignacio Cavazos.
Parents from Lincoln Middle School where Cavazos taught were shocked by the news.
"It just takes me by surprise because I didn't know about it. They just called me in to check,” parent, John Gutierrez said. “I don't know if it was one of my son's teachers or what so that's why I’m going in."
