ST. PAUL, MN (KARE/CNN) – Most young children do believe that Santa Claus will be coming to their town on Christmas, according to researchers.
Studies said that number has been consistent throughout four decades of published studies.
With about 85 percent of 4 and 5-year-old American children believing in jolly old Saint Nick.
That number fades as the kids get older, with experts saying reality likely sets in for the children when they turn 8.
One researcher notes that kids' belief in Santa starts when they're 3 and 4 years old.
According to a 2013 study, nearly three-quarters of Americans surveyed said they received Christmas Eve visits from Santa when they were kids.
While 1 in 5 adults said they were the parent or guardian of a child who believes in the man in red.
