A robotic fish designed by a group of scientists at MIT can swim naturally alongside other fish, while spying on them.
Robotic fish Sofi, is an 18-inch-long robot fish with a fisheye lens made up of a soft silicone rubber, flexible plastic and 3d-printed pieces.
The quiet motor-powered tail mimics the movements of real fish.
It also has sensors to help it avoid running into marine environments like delicate reefs.

The team from MIT's computer science and artificial intelligence laboratory plans to make Sofi even smarter. They plan to create a design that enables Sofi to move thru the water without being controlled.
The creators ultimately want to take their technology to biologists, who could benefit from Sofi's observations.
