HOUSTON (KTRK/CNN) - A teen and her grandfather say they were attacked by a monkey roaming the streets.
The 16-year-old was a passenger in the front seat of her grandfather's truck on Thursday when it happened.
The teen said they stopped and she rolled down the window to take a picture of the monkey.
That's when they said it leapt onto the truck and attacked her.
"Out of nowhere, it's just so fast, it just hops on this. It's able to take up the whole space crouching. And that's when it bares its teeth," Mariah Schliesing said.
"It caught me and I just hollered. And I hit it right in the head, right in the face, and knocked it out the window," said her grandfather, Michael Schliesing.
The monkey did not bite the teen, but she's on antibiotics for the scratches.
The city's humane department is looking for the animal.
