(RNN) - Snapchat recently featured an ad on its app for a game called "Would You Rather?" which featured photos of both Chris Brown and Rihanna.
The ad asked Snapchat users if they would "rather slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown."
In 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna during an argument which occurred while they were dating.
Snapchat removed the "Would You Rather" ad and released an apology.
Rhianna and others took to social media to express their outrage over the incident.
On Thursday, Rihanna posted a statement about the incident on her Snapchat account.
"Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain't my fav app out there! But I'm just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!" Rhianna wrote. "I'd love to call it ignorance but I know you ain't that dumb. You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it."
Lastly Rihanna wrote, "You let us down! Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy away," and that’s just what some users said they would do.
Rihanna said delete Snapchat so guess what I’m doing!!! #Navy

Some users referenced the company's recent unpopular app update, which resulted in users deleting the app after Kylie Jenner tweeted that she no longer opens Snapchat.
