HOUSTON, TX (KTRK/CNN) - The reward being offered for information leading to the capture of a child killer in Houston has been increased to $60,000.
Jazmine Barnes, 7, was killed when a gunman opened fire on a car full of women and children.
"This is a dangerous individual that is willing to shoot into a vehicle that is occupied by a number of women," said Ed Gonzalez, Harris County Sheriff.
The clock is ticking on the manhunt to find that person, who fired a gun into the car, striking Barnes in the head and killing her.
Authorities say they're not aware of any interaction or links between the victims and the shooter.
"This could potentially be race related," Gonzalez said. "To us, that's a public threat, a very serious public threat. There's no telling this person could do it again."
Witnesses describe the shooter as a white male in his 40s, with a beard and driving a red truck.
The sheriff's office says they believe the key to catching the killer might be this red truck, describing it as a four-door red or maroon pickup truck.
Authorities are now pleading with the public to check their personal security cameras to help them catch a license plate number.
Without a tag number, narrowing down the more than 6 million registered pickup trucks in Texas could be nearly impossible.
"Our goal is finding this individual, this coward, this shooter and finding this vehicle," said Gonzalez.
