WAYNE, MI (WDIV/CNN) - A retired police officer was sent to the hospital after he was beaten and stabbed in Wayne on Sunday.
Roy Huston, 70, is talking again, and will likely be in the hospital for another week. He worked for the Detroit Police Department for 30 years. But early Sunday he exchanged words with two men who then beat him, stabbed him and hit him with a radio, police said.
Huston would regularly sit outside a retirement home with his dog and listen to music, often late into the night, neighbors said. His son, Maurice Huston, said his father has defensive stab wounds to his hands and arms, WDIV reported. “He’s still in pain,” the son said.
Ryan Fletcher, 35, and Jacob Rose, 23, have been charged with assault with intent to commit murder and assault with a dangerous weapon, the report added.
Both suspects are being held on $100,000 bonds.
