(RNN) – President Donald Trump now knows what special counsel Robert Mueller would discuss with him in a face-to-face interview.
Two sources close to Mueller’s ongoing Russia probe told CNN Wednesday that Mueller’s team briefed Trump’s lawyers on four main topics they want to touch on in a possible interview.
The team said the special counsel wants to ask the president about:
- His role in drafting the misleading statement explaining the June 2016 meeting in Trump Tower between Donald Trump Jr. and Russians
- The circumstances regarding the Trump Tower meeting itself
- The firing of FBI Director James Comey
- The firing of national security adviser Michael Flynn
Mueller, however, is investigating areas beyond the four outlined topics, the sources said.
An interview between Trump and Mueller could happen in coming weeks, after both sides agree on terms.
