GALVESTON, TX (CNN) – People stranded in homes and on apartment buildings just above rising Harvey floodwaters are receiving help from their fellow Texans.
Some good Samaritans were looking to ‘’go and try to save some lives,” one man said as they headed toward the flood zone on Sunday with their boats.
Dozens of inches of rain have fallen along the Texas cost and inland as far as Houston, triggering what is being called epic flooding and desperate rescue attempts.
Everyday citizens are doing their part to help those affected by the devastation caused by hurricane, and now tropical storm, Harvey.
CNN’s Ed Lavandera on Sunday met such heroes, and their boats, in Galveston, TX, on their way to help.
