(CNN) - A 30-year-old Somali national is accused of running over pedestrians and stabbing an officer in Canada. Authorities in Edmonton, Alberta are identifying Abdulahi Sharif as the suspect in Saturday's Edmonton attacks.
Police say Sharif mowed down officer Mike Chernyk, and then got out of his car and repeatedly stabbed him. Authorities say Sharif also plowed into a group of pedestrians nearby, injuring four more people. Two of those victims are now out of the hospital.
The officer who was stabbed was also released from the hospital and expected to make a full recovery. Police say an ISIS flag found inside Sharif's car was seized as evidence.
Sharif has been arrested before for several offenses, including participation in a terror act. Police say a 2015 investigation didn't find him to be a threat.
