(CNN) - In the Mediterranean Sea, the Russian Navy launched sea-based missiles against ISIS objects located near Deir Ezzor, Syria, on Tuesday.
The missiles were launched in accordance with data received through intelligence channels.
The Syrian regime, which is backed by Russia, says its forces have broken through the ISIS siege of Deir Ezzor on Tuesday by making contact with troops stationed on the western side.
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights called it the first step toward lifting the siege.
