BERKELEY, CA (KGO/CNN) - Large protests broke out in Berkeley, CA, Thursday night.
At least nine people were arrested during a demonstration against conservative speaker Ben Shapiro at UC Berkeley.
Some of the protesters are accused of carrying banned weapons.
Before the protests, the city of Berkeley said they would temporarily ban certain items.
The banned items included sticks, pipes, poles and other potential weapons.
At least one protester is accused of battery on a police officer.
Berkeley police tweeted late Thursday night that crowds had dispersed, and normal operations were resuming in the city.
