Raw: Fire burns 'The Blues Brothers' prison

Posted

JOLIET, IL (CNN) - The investigation continues into what caused a fire at an abandoned prison.

The old Joliet Correctional Center was used to film scenes in the movie "The Blues Brothers," as well as TV shows like "Prison Break."

The facility was also used as a prison for about 140 years before being shut down for good in 2002.

There are no reports of injuries, and it's unclear if anyone was inside the prison when the fire began.

A previous fire at the prison in 2013 destroyed a maintenance shack.

It's not the only "Blues Brothers" related property to be destroyed in recent years.

The mall that Joliet "Jake" and Elwood drove through in a memorial chase scene was demolished in 2012.
