CHICAGO (WLS/CNN) - Police have persons of interest in custody after a shooting at an elementary school in Chicago.

Firefighters say two girls were wounded during an end-of-year picnic outside Warren Elementary on Friday. Police say the shooters opened fire from a car at some former students who were nearby.

The attackers kept shooting as the students ran toward the picnic area, eventually striking the two girls. A 7-year-old girl, and another girl age 12 or 13, were later hospitalized. They have non life-threatening injuries, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said.

Police say they have the vehicle believed to be used in the shooting, and they want to talk to the former students who were targeted.
