(CNN) - President Donald Trump is tweeting that his planned border wall is still in the pipeline.
His tweet on Thursday said "Mexico was just ranked the second deadliest country in the world, after only Syria." It also said "drug trade is largely the cause. We will build the wall."
Trump was apparently referencing a report by the International Institute for Strategic Studies that came out last month. The president also re-tweeted a link to a CNN story on that report. The May CNN piece included coverage of the report that said Mexico’s drug war led to the loss of 23,000 lives during 2016, second only to Syria. Mexico was ahead of the war-torn nations of Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen.
Trump promised during his campaign to build a wall along the American-Mexican border, and force Mexico to pay for it.
He announced on Wednesday that the wall could be covered with solar panels, so Mexico would have to pay less.
