OAKLAND, CA (RNN) - An mixed-use building under construction caught fire in the early morning hours on Friday.

The blaze quickly developed into a four-alarm fire, KPIX reported.

Firefighters are battling the blaze.

No one was reported injured.

The fire started around 4 a.m., and by 5:45 a.m., part of the structure had collapsed, KRON said.

People in an adjoining building had to evacuate.

The crane next to the bulding also caught fire and is spinning over the top of the building, creating an additional hazard.

The 1,000-square-foot mixed-use space near Lake Merritt was going to hold 200 apartment units.

Twitter users captured the blaze.

Oakland was the site of a deadly fire on Dec. 2, 2016. Thirty-six people died at the Ghost Ship, a warehouse being used as an artists' residence, when the building caught fire during a dance party.
