HONG KONG (CNN) - A Pablo Picasso painting of his muse, Marie Theresa Walter, was unveiled to the public Tuesday in Hong Kong for the first stop of its world tour, according to Sotherby's, one of the world's largest fine art brokers.
The Femme au béret et à la robe quadrillée (Woman in beret and checked dress) is up for auction by Sotheby's for an estimated $50 million.
Walter was the model and mistress of Picasso. Walter committed suicide four years after Picasso’s death.
It was painted in 1937 a few months after his masterpiece "Guernica."
The official auction will take place on Feb. 28, according to Sotherby's.
Picasso's Nude, Green Leaves and Bust sold for $106.5 million in 2010.
