(RNN/CNN) - A happy Kansas City couple were visiting their favorite spot, a picturesque bridge spanning a lovely stream.
Seth Dixon surprised Ruth Salas when he dropped to one knee to pop the question. Then he surprised everybody when he dropped the ring, which fell through the planks into the water below.
After a moment of mutual astonishment they both erupted into laughter.
A friend captured the whole thing on video, and now a growing multitude of social media viewers are laughing along with the couple.
The next day, more than 30 friends came to the bridge and dove into the water to search for the ring. They didn’t find it, but a friend who is a wedding and engagement photographer captured images that will bring laughter for generations.
