SALINAS, CA (KSBWCNN) – A 10-year-old girl, like a lot of kids, was saving up her own money for a trip to Disneyland. But the trip almost didn’t happen because burglars broke into her house and took her money.
Andrea Ramirez dreamed of going to Disneyland, and just weeks before she was set to go, thieves broke into her home in Salinas, CA. They gook her suitcase and the $200 she had been saving all year.
“I was so happy to go, but when they robbed me, I thought I wasn’t going to go anymore,” she said.
The Salinas police took matters into their own hands. They took up donations to send Andrea to the “Happiest Place on Earth.”
Then they called Andrea to police headquarters on the ruse that they needed her to identify her stolen belongings.
When she arrived, they gave her Mickey Mouse cards and more than $1,000.
“When they gave me a bunch of money that I couldn’t believe, it was amazing,” she said.
The Salinas fifth-grader had the time of her life at Disneyland.
