PERU (CNN) - Peru authorities seized more than a half ton of cocaine destined for the United States.
Police found close to 1,300 pounds of cocaine were found in a tanker truck, packed in 526 brick-style packages.
Five people were detained, including the driver of the tanker and its owner.
Authorities also confiscated three pickup trucks and a motorcycle.
Police traced the drugs to a criminal gang dedicated to gathering narcotics from different parts of the country for export.
