(PROFILES IN HISTORY/CNN) - The little robot from Star Wars has sold for a huge amount of cash.

R2-D2 - who appeared in several Star Wars films - was sold at auction on Wednesday for $2.76 million.

The 43-inch droid was the most expensive item at the Movies Memorabilia auction.

The buyer's name was not released.

In addition to R2-D2, Luke Skywalker's lightsaber sold for the hefty price of $390,000.

Other items sold included Darth Vader's helmet, lightsaber and shoulder armor.

Some imperial and rebel weapons were sold as well.
