Columbus Air Force Base officials have confirmed an Air Force T-38C Talon II crashed at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in a remote area near Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi.

The plane crashed within the first couple of minutes of the flight and crashed in farmland.

Both pilots ejected safely from the aircraft. They were found near Barton Ferry Road in Lowndes County. They have been taken to a nearby hospital.

Local law enforcement, military police, and first responders are on the scene. They have extinguished the fire and are securing the area. Officials say there are no houses or other structures in the immediate area of the crash.
