NEW KENSINGTON, PA (WTAE/CNN) – A police officer who was shot on Friday night in New Kensington has died. Law enforcement sources have told local news stations the officer was shot during a traffic stop.
Heavy police activity is still at the scene as the gunman has not been caught. A police helicopter is joining multiple departments in the search.
The officer who was shot died at the hospital. His identity is not known.
WTAE reporter David Kaplan was tweeting from the crime scene on Friday night while officers from surrounding communities responded.
