HOUSTON (KTRK/CNN) - At least 10 people were hurt after turbulence hit an international flight to Houston Tuesday.
According to the FAA, the United Airlines flight from Panama encountered severe turbulence near Cancun, Mexico.
Paramedics assisted the passengers after the plane landed at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
United said the injuries include nine passengers and one crew member.
Houston fire Chief Thomas Wheeler said seven were later hospitalized.
"Well, we were called out here for an incident that involved potentially turbulence on an aircraft. We had initially about 14 people that we evaluated, and in the end we ended up transporting seven to local hospitals," he said.
There is no word on the victims' conditions.
