NEWARK, NJ (RNN) – A man was arrested in New Jersey after police say he used an emergency exit and slide to leave a plane he had just boarded while it was still parked at the gate, WCBS reports.
Police say 25-year-old Troy Fattun of Micronesia is facing charges in connection with the Sunday night incident.
Fattun boarded the flight to Tampa, FL, had a discussion with the airline crew and then went to the back as other passengers were boarding, according to police.
He then reportedly opened the emergency exit door, deployed the slide and went down it.
When officers arrived, Fattun was yelling he had been on the wrong flight, according to WNBC.
The man was immediately detained by airline personnel and Port Authority police and was arrested shortly thereafter.
Despite claiming he was on the wrong plane, Fattun did have a ticket for the Tampa flight, investigators say.
The flight was delayed for about five hours before passengers were put on another plane.
