NEW YORK (CNN) - The suggested admission fee for New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art will soon be required for tourists.
The museum says it will start charging out-of-state visitors $25 to enter.
That's only the suggested donation price under current rules.
Visitors have always been able to pay whatever they please. But starting on March 1, the current pay-as-you-wish policy will apply to all New Yorkers and students from Connecticut and New Jersey only.
The met says the price increase will affect about a third of its roughly 7 million annual visitors.
