(CNN) – Twitter says it is launching an internal review after President Donald Trump’s personal Twitter account was deactivated Thursday night for 11 minutes.
Around 7 p.m. ET Thursday, Trump’s verified @realDonaldTrump account went offline.
Anyone who navigated to his feed was given a generic blue landing page that read, “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist.”
The account was restored within 11 minutes.
Twitter’s official Government account said the feed was “inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee.”
Earlier today @realdonaldtrump’s account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee. The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.

But after further investigation, the company announced a Twitter customer support employee deactivated the account on their last day of employment.
Through our investigation we have learned that this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day. We are conducting a full internal review. https://t.co/mlarOgiaRF

The initial deactivation and subsequent statements all met with – what else – a flurry of Twitter activity.
That former @twitter employee can always say “Remember when Trump’s twitter account was deactivated for 11 minutes? I did that.” #SoJealous

We’ll all remember where we were during the 10 minutes of peace while Donald Trump’s Twitter account was down.

Twitter says it is conducting “a full internal review” following the incident.
Trump makes extensive use of the account to promote his policies and criticize opponents, including the NFL, Democratic and Republican lawmakers and North Korea.
Many have called for the president to be removed from the platform over his controversial tweets, but Twitter has declined to bar Trump’s account, saying his tweets are newsworthy and of public interest.
