(CNN) - Students and employees at Notre Dame University will continue receiving birth control at no cost.
The Catholic school said last month that it would end coverage due to its religious beliefs.
The Trump administration's weakening of Obamacare's contraceptive mandate allowed it to do so.
Students and employees protested the decision and started an online petition.
The university's president announced Tuesday the school has decided to continue providing coverage.
He said the institution never wanted to prevent access to contraceptives - it just didn't want to be compelled by the government to provide them.
