GREENFIELD, MA (WWLP/CNN) - An apartment is evicting a woman for smoking medical marijuana she said she's prescribed for.
Anita Nelson said she uses the prescription to treat her spinal injuries and post-traumatic stress.
Mill House Apartment where Nelson lives told her in July that she can't stay there if she wants to smoke.
Smoking is prohibited in the entire complex.
But Nelson said she lived there before the rule was made.
"I have lived here 13 years they only instituted this no smoking policy two years ago,” Nelson said. “I don't care it’s my medicine, How I consume my medicine is none of their business.”
Nelson filed an emergency motion to stop the eviction.
She said if the court does not side with her, she will have to move to a homeless shelter.
The apartment complex did not respond to a request for comment.
