RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (HOST TV/CNN) - First lady Melania Trump did not wear a headscarf as she arrived with President Donald Trump on their first official visit to Saudi Arabia.
It is not an unusual move as former first ladies Michelle Obama, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton all visited the predominantly Muslim nation without wearing a traditional head covering.
Saudi women are expected to wear full body garments, and cover their head and hair.
Last month, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister Theresa May also opted out during their respective official visits.
Former secretaries of state Condoleezza Rice and Madeleine Albright also eschewed the traditional garb.
President Trump criticized the move by Michelle Obama, saying that in 2015 it insulted Saudi Arabia.
Many people are saying it was wonderful that Mrs. Obama refused to wear a scarf in Saudi Arabia, but they were insulted. We have enuf enemies
