ASHEVILLE, NC (WLOS/CNN) - Judges in North Carolina summoned their inner Hansels and Gretels for this year's National Gingerbread House competition.
Gingerbread engineers from four different age categories entered the contest.
Appearance, creativity and difficulty are among the qualities sought to win the gold.
Candy cottages come from far and wide to try to take home the winning title.
Last year's adult winner was from Ontario, Canada.
Don't worry if you missed the big contest. All of the winners will be on display until Jan. 4.
