TARRANT COUNTY, TX (CNN) - The mother of "affluenza teen" Ethan Couch is in jail after being arrested on a bond violation.
Tonya Couch, 50, is being held in the Tarrant County Jail.
Authorities said they took her into custody on Wednesday after she failed a urinalysis test.
It's not clear what substances were found in her system, but she isn't allowed to drink alcohol as part of her bond conditions.
Tonya Couch is facing charges of money laundering and hindering the apprehension of a fugitive for helping her son, Ethan Couch, flee to Mexico in 2015 after he violated probation.
She faces a May trial date for those charges, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
Ethan Couch rose to national prominence because of his unusual defense for killing four people in a drunken-driving accident in 2013, when he was 16 years old.
A psychologist testified the teen had "affluenza," meaning his wealthy upbringing kept him from knowing right from wrong or understanding personal responsibility.
Ethan Couch pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter and was sentenced to ten years of rehab and probation, but after his 2015 probation violation, he was sentenced to 720 days in jail - 180 days for each person he killed.
He is set for release in April, days before his 21st birthday, the Dallas News reported.
