MONROE COUNTY, MI (WXYZ/CNN) - A convicted murderer plans to keep a Bible given to him by the mother of the woman he killed.
In an incredible moment in court on Thursday, the woman's mother openly forgave Daniel Clay, 27, who a judge called a liar, a rapist and a killer. “Jesus came to heal our mess of a life, and I hope you will let him in to help heal your mess,” Leannda Bruck said to Clay. She is the mother of Chelsea, who was 22.
“Today with the strength from Jesus Christ, I forgive Daniel Clay…” she said.
The girl never made it home from a Halloween party in 2014. Her body was found six months later.
“We still expect her to walk in the back door,” Bruck said of her daughter. Clay was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, WXYZ reports.
