Mother charged after toddler found wandering in snow

OVERBROOK, PA (KDKA/CNN) – Family members have taken custody of a Pennsylvania mother’s three young children after they were left unsupervised in their house, police say.

Jaeling Williams, 28, faces three counts of endangering the welfare of a child after a couple found her toddler standing on the sidewalk just off a busy street around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The child was wearing only a T-shirt. She had on no pants and no diaper.

The couple helped the toddler back inside her home, where they also found twin 18-month-old boys.

Police say Williams left the three young children home alone without an adult present.

When Williams returned, shortly after police arrived at the scene, she said she had run out on an errand. She told police she’d only been gone for about 10 to 15 minutes to buy special formula for her twins at the nearest Rite Aid.

Police say the home was in deplorable condition, with furniture torn apart and dirty diapers and food scattered on the living room and kitchen floors.

Williams was arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail. Family members were called to the home to take custody of her children.
