COLUMBUS, OH (WCMH/CNN) – An Ohio mother is accused of intentionally running over her own daughter, breaking the teenager’s leg, after the two had an argument.
Police say Ebony Woody and her 17-year-old daughter argued Monday morning. As a punishment, Woody demanded the teenager stay home from school.
When the victim refused and left the house without Woody’s approval, police say Woody got in her car, chased her daughter down the street and drove over a curb, striking her. She then backed up and ran over the 17-year-old’s leg a second time.
Woody put the teenager in her car and drove her to her father’s house, where the victim called police.
"My leg is broke, and I need to get to the emergency room ASAP. I got hit by a car. My mom ran me over with her car,” the 17-year-old said to 911.
Neighbors say police are often called to the home.
“I have called the police before because they had about 20 people over there, and they were arguing,” one woman said. “Don't know what's going on down there. You don't know who all lives there, and like I said, they'll drive through the yards... They drive through the neighbor's yard.”
Woody appeared in court Tuesday morning where she was charged with felonious assault, felonious vehicular assault, felonious endangering children and driving under a suspended license.
The victim’s family says the 17-year-old is recovering with two fractures to her left leg.
