(WISN/CNN) - A Wisconsin mother is facing a felony charge for endangering her 9-year-old son for strapping him to the roof of her mini-van.
Another motorist spotted her and called 911.
The caller told the emergency operator that she saw 28-year-old Amber Schmunk driving her minivan, flashers going, with the little boy on top holding down a kiddie pool.
The caller followed the minivan driver until she stopped and took the kid and the pool off the top of the van.
When the police arrived, she told them she thought it was OK because her father used to let her do things like that when she was that age. She said the boy was only on top of the van for a short time, maybe 20 or 30 seconds.
She said she only did it because she had no other way to strap the pool down, so she had her son climb on top of the van and hold it down while she drove.
The mother is set to appear in court Nov. 14.
