INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WRTV/CNN) - A teenager was mistakenly shot and killed entering his own home.

Neighbors weren't willing to talk on camera about the teen they used to see playing basketball in his driveway.

A police spokesman said neighbors were awakened by gunshots when Eugene Dobbins, 15, was sneaking back into his house. Someone inside the home believed it was an intruder and shot him.

"He tragically died on-scene," the police spokesman said. "As far as they knew, everybody that was supposed to be inside the house was inside the house."

Police ruled the shooting accidental and did not make any arrests. A county prosecutor will determine if charges will be filed.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry and have not released the relationship between Dobbins and the shooter.
