REDMOND, WA (CNN) - Think treehouses are just for kids? Tell that to Microsoft!

The three treehouses, which are Wi-Fi enabled and have benches with electric plugs, serve as meeting rooms for Microsoft employees at its Redmond, WA, campus.

Microsoft said its employees were pushing for some kind of outdoor workspace, adding that exposure to the outdoors can relieve stress and encourage creativity.

The company said the treehouses were designed by Pete Nelson of the TV show "Treehouse Masters."

"The first thing when you walk into the space is that everyone is really quiet. You stop talking and are just present," said Bret Boulter, who headed up the project. "It’s fascinating. People absorb the environment, and it changes the perception of their work and how they can do it."
