(RNN) - Microsoft Paint will be "deprecated" in the next Windows 10 Creators Update.
This means that it is "not in active development and might be removed in future releases."
This may spell the end, or at least the beginning of the end, for the 32-year-old feature.
A illustration tool of somewhat limited utility, Paint was released in 1985 with the first version of Windows 1.0, CNN reported.
Microsoft Paint will be survived by its progeny, Microsoft Paint 3D.
It has more than 100 million monthly users, according to Microsoft.
Microsoft did not respond to a request for comment.
Many people from across the globe took to Twitter, crafting Microsoft Paint-created tombstones and otherwise expressing their digital feelings in several languages.
