ITHACA, NY (Spectrum News/CNN) - Valentine's Day is a popular time for many couples to get engaged, but some lovers in Ithaca, NY, did things a little differently.
More than a dozen couples renewed their vows at McDonald's Tuesday, the day before the special day.
For one vestal couple, it was the highlight of their day.
"We got some snack wraps and we got remarried," said Carol who is married to Vincent Grassi. "He made me crack up with the vows, they were funny and it's just a fun thing to do, after a long day of work."
The event was also special for Joe and Megan Williams.
"We've been married 10 years and we told ourselves every 10 years we would renew our vows,” said Megan Williams. “We could do it. We could renew our vows, and this is a very interesting story."
Country music DJ Chris Allinger who became ordained just for this new event, says it gives people a break from the world's divisiveness.
"We just kind of distracted everybody for however long it took to renew their vows and we remind them that this time of year we do take a pause to say "I love you," Allinger said.
One of the couples won a one-night stay at a hotel.
