(CNN) - McDonald's is revamping its ice cream treats by removing artificial flavors, colors and preservatives from its vanilla soft serve.

The soft serve is used to make the fast-food giant's popular vanilla cone, McCafé Shakes and McFlurry Desserts.

The change impacts 60 percent of the desserts that McDonald's serves.

McDonald's says its chocolate and strawberry McCafé shake syrup has no high fructose corn syrup and the whipped topping served on all three flavors of shakes is made with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.
