(CNN) - Sen. John McCain was treated at Walter Reed Medical Center for a minor tear to his right Achilles tendon. He says it happened over the weekend.
In a statement on Monday, his office also said he returned to work in the Senate, and will be wearing a boot until the injured tendon fully heals.
The 81-year-old Arizona Republican has been undergoing treatment for brain cancer since revealing his diagnosis in July. In an interview with CBS’ "60 Minutes," McCain said his brain cancer is "very, very serious."
His office said in addition to the tendon, he was also treated for "other normal and non-life-threatening side effects of cancer therapy" at Walter Reed over the weekend.
