(CNN) - A group of 15 Camp Pendleton-based Marines were injured during a training exercise on Wednesday when the vehicle they were in caught fire.
Five Marines are in critical condition, and five other Marines are listed in serious condition.
The Marines were participating in a pre-deployment land-based training operation in the morning when the accident occurred.
According to the Marine Corps, the vehicle involved in the accident has been used to transport Marines from sea to land since the 1970s.
The accident is under investigation.
