WATERTOWN, MA (WBZ/CNN) – The Watertown man who told police that one of the Boston Marathon bombers was hiding in a boat in his backyard has died.
Dave Henneberry died on Wednesday at the age of 70, WBZ said.
The neighborly Henneberry was called a hero for calling 911 while Boston was in the midst of a search for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on April 19, 2013. He told the operator he could see blood on his boat located behind his house. The call led police to the house and the capture of the bomber, and the end of a 100-hour manhunt.
The bombing killed three people and injured more than 250 others.
Henneberry leaves two stepchildren, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, WBZ said.
